It's 3 steps ahead of u, on 4 differnt levels, @ 5 blinding speeds!!

First & Foremost my apologies to Mr.Nolan who has proved me totally wrong & has made me eat my own words.
2 years back when 'The Dark Knight' released i had confidently proclaimed that TDK will be Nolan's "I Will Be Remembered For This" Movie.
And now in 2010 im just elated to say that i very wrongly UNDER-ESTIMATED this Visionary Maverick Genius.
It's so hard for me too believe that for a person who uses minimal of CGI & Visual Effects, he was able to do achieve something like this!!
As the Tag line of the Film says "Your Mind Is The Scene Of The Crime" & Nolan stays completely true to his words.
The Only question here is,will 'your' mind be able to handle all the "Mind-Screwing" that you are about to witness ??
Even if you say that you understood every little bit of it i would still suggest you to go for a 2nd watch (The muvi without a doubt deserves to be seen at least 3 times!) to get the "Total Nolan-istic" hang of things.

DiCaprio as usual has given a solid performance but the actor who stood out was Joseph Gordon Levitt who played the character of DiCaprio's Point Man,Arthur.
All the other actors (most of them have worked with Nolan before) have given a laudable performance.

In a span of just 12 years & 7 movies Nolan has risen to such a level that he is almost on par with the Greatest Film makers (Kubrick,Kurasowa,Lynch etc).
And im pretty sure that by the time he has made his 10th movie , he would be equal or may even surpass them! You might say its too early to say but i just have one word for you guys - INCEPTION.
If a person can think of something like this from scratch without referring to any materials then he just has to be a freakin GENIUS.
Nolan started writing this script almost 10 years back & was inspired by Wachawoski Brother's 'THE MATRIX' & Alex Proyas's 'DARK CITY'.

The Movie would not have been anything like it is now without Hans Zimmer pulse-pounding musical score which keeps the audience on the edge.
This is Wally Pfister's 6th movie with Nolan as a Cinematographer.Nolan's Vision were given an amazing life to it by Pfister's terrific cinematography.
As i stated before INCEPTION is ahead of you,its on different levels & travels at a blistering pace. So try to hang on !!

Rating: 5/5 (The Concept & Direction gets 3,1 For Hans Zimmer's Music & 1 for the Stellar Cast )

Verdict: Dont Miss it for anything.Requires at least 2 viewings & Deserves a minimum of 3 !!

BEWARE: YOUR MIND MIGHT FEEL 'MOLESTED' AFTER WATCHING INCEPTION BUT THAT'S JUST HOW IT'S MEANT TO BE !

Watch it & Get INSPIRED ....

" Subah ki kirno ko rokein jo salaakhein hai kahan
Jo khayalon pe pehre daale woh aankhein hai kahan
Par khulne ki deri hai parinde udh ke choomenge
Aasman aasman aasman "

CAST:

Rajat Barmecha - Rohan

Ronit Roy - Bhairav

Aayan Boradia - Arjun

Ram Kapoor - Jimmy

Motwane debut venture is a simple story which has its heart in the right place.
The movie has a narrative which has been missing in the Indian Film Industry or should i say, a narrative pattern that is rarely used.
In one way or the other all of us will be able to relate to Rohan's character. After watching the film, you would surely feel that the role was tailor made for Rajat Barmecha (whom you might have seen in Sonata Watch ADS along with MS Dhoni!).
He has given such a convincing & commendable performance that its hard to believe he is a debutante.Special mention has to be given to Aayan Boradia (Arjun) who played the character of Rajat's younger brother, he gives an adorable charm to the movie.
After a certain part you feel that its not just Rohan's story but also his brothers.Ronit Roy as Rohan's dad has just showed us why all the 'Saas-Bahus' love him.His act as a misanthropist is forceful and is reliable. The viewers will have an Instant dislike for his character.

Now for the guys who have lifted this beautiful story to a whole new level by their amazing contribution.
Amit Trivedi's music which gives life to each & every scene.Amitabh Bhattacharya's Lyrics help the audience to get closer to Rohan's character.
Vikramaditya Motwane & Anurag Kashyap's Dialogues which are simple but very effective. Also there are many instances where Motwane has used Silence instead of dialogues & has successfully pulled it off as the characters were able to express the appropriate messages.
Last but not least Mahindra Shetty's delightfully pleasing Cinematography.

Rating : 4/5

Verdict : Go & Watch this one ... It's for the DREAMER within us all.

Aal Izz Very Well !!!

3 Idiots :

Crew:

Director : Rajkumar Hirani

Producer : Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Story,Screenplay & Dialogues : Rajkumar Hirani & Abhijat Joshi

Cinematography : Muraleedharan

Music: Shantanu Moitra

Lyrics : Swanand Kirkire

Based on Chetan Bhagat's Novel - 5 Point Someone

Cast:

Aamir Khan - Rancho

Sharman Joshi - Raju Rastogi

R Madhavan - Farhan Qureshi

Omi - Chattur Ramalingam

Boman Irani - Viru Sahassrabuddhe

Kareena Kapoor - Pia

In 2003 Raju Hirani gave us the "Jaadu Ki Jhappi" for 2010 the mantra is gonna be "All izz well".With 3 Idiots,Raju Hirani is sure to get a Hat-Trick of Blockbusters.
After the stupendous success of 'Munnabhai MBBS' & 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' , thank god Hirani went ahead with this project rather than 'Munnabhai Chale Amrika'.
Sure Munnabhai series was hilarious and thought provoking but Hirani had to do something totally different so as to prove that he is really versatile.
With 3 Idiots he has not just proved that he is versatile but also that he is a GENIUS when it comes to Screenplay & Dialogues. His partner in crime in this is Abhijat Joshi.
Together they have written an amazing screenplay with some unforgettable dialogues. As a huge fan of the novel '5 Point Someone' i had my doubts whether 3 Idiots would live upto the Book or not.
But after watching the film i can happily say that it retains the spirit of the book by Chetan Bhagat even though a lot has been changed.

All the main leads have given a commendable performance.Special mention has to be given to Omi(Debut) who played the character of Chattur, has without doubt given one of the funniest performance's of the Year!
Music nd Lyrics was totally apt for the Movie nd for its characters.
May be the climax was the only part where Hirani went toooo Filmy other than that "ALL WAS Very Well".

Rating : 4/5 ( Worth Watchin at least 2-3 times ,sply wid frendz!)

Verdict : A Sure Shot Blockbuster but the controversy nd the fueds between the Makers nd Chetan Bhagat was totally un-necessary.Spoiled the Fun a little :-(

12 YEARS : IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT

Avatar :

Crew :

Director : James Cameron

Producer : James Cameron & Jon Landau

Writer : James Cameron

Cinematography : Mauro Fiore

Visual Effects : Robert Legato

Music : James Horner

Cast:

Jake Scully : Sam Worthington

Kelly : Seagourney Weaver

Neyitri : Zoe Saldana

WoW !!! Thats the first word that comes to your mind when the 2hr 40mins Ride gets over.
Hats Off to James Cameron who spent 14yrs (He wrote the story 2yrs before 'TITANIC') and $500 Million on this DREAM project.
The movie surely belongs to this Visionary. He successfully transports you to the World of 'Pandora'.
If you thought that George Lucas or Peter Jackson were Gurus when it came to CGI and Visual EFX,u were right but Post Avatar Mr.Cameron has taken over the Mantle.
If Lord Of The Rings:Return Of The King had around 1500 frames of CGI in it, Avatar goes all the way and touches the 3000 mark!!
Kudos to the Visual EFX team of almost 5000 lead by OSCAR winner Robert Legato, they will most probably walk away with this years Golden Statue.
Now i know how the 60's & 70's audience must have felt when they saw 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars for the FIRST TIME !
The intrinsic details in each & every shot are just Ama-ZING,whether its the inhabitants of Pandora or the ammunition used by Humans or the wild variety of colourful and luminescent creatures of Pandora.
All of them have been very precisely and accurately sketched & created.
The Story is pretty much simple. Its an animated & futuristic take on what US of A has been doing in the Middle-East for the past 10-20 yrs.
And the message that we get is the same that we have been hearing for many, many years - " War is not the answer to everything ".
After the Visual EFX, next comes the magnificent Cinematography by Mauro Fiore even though majority of the movie has been shot in front of a Blue Screen he has done an extra-ordinary job.
He might also get a nod for Oscar nomination. The Music by James Horner is very apt and has an out-of-the-world feeling to it.Specially the main Theme sung by Leona Lewis.
Just like his previous outing with Cameron,he is most likely to walk away with an Oscar for Best Music.Even Leona Lewis deserves an Oscar nomination for Best Song. Its not as great as "My Heart ... " from TITANIC but it sure is a soulful romantic ballad which suites the Movie.
With Avatar,Cameron has redefined Film Making and raised the bar to an all new level.

Rating : 5/5 (Believe Me It DESERVES a BIG'Ol 5 !! )

Verdict : AVATAR is not a Movie its an Experience which shouldn't be missed. It doesnt matter whether u watch it in English or the Dubbed versions in Hindi,Tamil or Telugu.Make sure you watch it!
